OMM arrives in Malaysia & I tested out a few of their Best Sellers!

Sunday, 8 July 2018
Earlier in June, I came to learn about a new luxury Korean-beauty brand called "OMM". I was invited by the brand directly to be acquainted and have a store visit in their first outlet in Malaysia.

OMM is headquartered in Seoul, Korea. The brand now has boutiques in China, Hong Kong, Malaysia & Thailand.

Among global top cosmetic brands, OMM is the first brand I've encountered to propose the idea of incorporating bioactive Lactobacillus into skincare products. It is learned that Active Lactobacillus has shown to effectively boost the performance of skincare products by supporting their core functions. Simultaneously, it strengthens skin immunity and forms a protective film of healthy flora, offering solutions that target skin issues from the root.

If you're wondering,  the letter ‘O’ in OMM represents the initiator of Lactobacillus skin care – O RÊn Yi; the letters ‘MM’ to honor all magnanimous mothers. As Lactobacillus is found to be transmitted from mothers to babies during natural birth, this brand highlights ‘LOVE’ to create fresher, healthier and more natural skin care products; bringing about exquisite skincare products for all beauty-seekers to indulge in.

OMM open its door in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur on 7 April 2018, on the same floor as Watsons and Sasa. It boasts 1,000 square-feet in real estate size and it marks the FIRST of 5 stores in OMM's brand expansions in Klang Valley over the next 2 years.

The interior has a clean and sleek feel to the eyes, making navigating within the shop pretty simple. Upon entering the premises, you can find their Best Sellers in the left area.

With the opening of OMM’s new retail boutique, Malaysians can finally experience the much-awaited Fresh Ferment Skin Care range, the first in the world to promote a powerful combination of Lactobacillus and Gangwon Deep Seawaters.

The role of Lactobacillus in skincare was initially mooted by Korean Royal Physicians in the 1920s, but it was only in 2016 that OMM cosmetics, in collaboration with international research company Kolmar, managed to successfully integrate Lactobacillus into their popular skincare range.

Using a special strain of bioactive Lactobacillus that mimics the natural bacterial protection of new-born babies, the Fresh Ferment Skin Care range promises to improve skin health by eliminating toxins and creating a balanced environment for healthy bacteria. The result is enhanced skin resilience and decreased skin sensitivity.

There are 6 products under the Fresh Ferment series:

Fresh Ferment Moisture First Essence stimulates skin vitality

Fresh Ferment Essence Toner that strengthens skin’s immunity

Fresh Ferment Lifting Eye Cream

Fresh Ferment Essence that addresses skin aging

Fresh Ferment Emulsion that maintains skin moisture

Fresh Ferment Facial Cream that maintains elasticity and brightness.

Aside from the classic range, there are a few other ranges that complement your skin, according to your skin concerns.

I managed to test out 4 products and here's my take on each of them.
My skin type is currently dry & sensitive, so do take this into consideration when reading my reviews.

Wing Wing Wing Renew Cleanser Gel

This cleanser comes in a very runny liquid texture with a distinct honey scent. It is said to be suitable for all skin types. It foams up easily when it comes into contact with water.

Personally, I love the scent of this cleanser and I like the texture of it. However, I realized that this cleanser gave me breakouts when I first started using it. I stopped using it for awhile, but when I resumed, the breakouts came back. I was really disappointed because I really liked it, but it didn't work for my skin.

However, when my man tried this - he reported that he absolutely loved this cleanser! He has been using it regularly, unlike other cleansers I let him tried previously. A thing to note is that he has oily skin type so this could be the very reason this cleanser worked for him. So this cleanser has been on his permanent skincare routine ever since.

Fresh Ferment Moisture First Essence

I realized that Korean skincare brands make first essences as their top priority in skincare routine, thus its no wonder that this first essence makes into OMM Best Sellers list. The right application of this first essence is the FIRST STEP right after cleansing, before toner. This step is vital to prep the skin for better absorption of the following skincare products (toner, emulsion, serums, so on).

The texture is a transparent gel-like liquid that has a high absorption rate. It sinks into the skin easily without leaving any residue. Easy to use, and easy to carry around because of its light plastic bottle packaging.

I usually pump around thrice for full face coverage and twice for my neck & decolletage area. So far, I do think the efficacy is just about ok, as I do think my favorite first essence does a better job at this. When I switched from that to OMM first essence, I felt that my skin wasn't as radiant as before, but it is still better than not using a first essence product at all. But this conclusion is just based on my skin, it could be different for yours.

I do plan to finish this bottle though it isn't the best first essence that I have used because it is still good.

UV Shield Moisture Sun Mist SPF50+/PA++++

This sunscreen is such a joy to use because it comes in an easy spray-mist bottle! It's been awhile since I used a spray-on sunscreen for my face because most spray-on sunscreens are made for body usage.

I enjoy using this because:
a) Absorbs easily into the skin
b) Leaves no white cast/residue
c) Highly moisturizing
d) Has high SPF coverage (SPF50+ PA++++)
e) Lightweight packaging, easy for travels

I don't think there is anything I dislike about this sunscreen!

Fresh Pomegranate Juice Mask

Fresh Pomegranate Juice Mask + 6 sheets

This juice mask is something new that I have discovered because I usually use sheet masks, clay masks, hydrating gel masks, but not DIY masks style!

So this juice mask comes in a "milk carton" packaging that contains the juice (155ml) and 7 empty sheet masks. Meaning you are required to use this product within 7 times in 1 month as the packaging states the juice will only last 1 month upon opening. Reason being, it contains fresh Natural Active Lactobacillus on top of Gangwon-Do Deep Sea Water and Pomegranate Fruit Essence.

I like the idea of it but I gotta be honest - the DIY part makes me a little lazy to go through the hassle because it sometimes can get messy if you are not careful when pouring the juice into the plastic packaging.

With it being priced at RM105, it translates into RM15 per usage. As for me, I'm used to buying sheet masks around RM5-8 per sheet thus it is slightly pricier than usual for me. However, if you are one who is looking for superb efficacy, this juice mask really does provide long-lasting hydration throughout the week. I still feel that my face is well hydrated even on Day 2 post-mask. I do feel that this mask is worth the money and I would consider to repurchase it in future.

Belif Malaysia Prime Infusion Repair Program Ampoule Review

Sunday, 1 July 2018
Belif Prime Infusion Repair Program Ampoule

It's time for another review and this round it's from Korean brand - Belif.

Belif is under the Korean giant - LG Household & Healthcare Ltd Group, which houses brands like History of Whoo, SU:M37, The Face Shop, CNP, VDL & VOV - just to name a few. You can see the full list here. It's philosophy is based on Napier's traditional herbal processing method that is "real, simple and sincere".

I was sent this package containing Belif Malaysia Prime Infusion Repair Program Ampoule for review purposes, so let's just jump straight right in!

Prime Infusion Repair Program Ampoule
A six-week intensive care program with step-by-step ampoules. During each step, it gives more effective anti-aging by hydrating, nourishing, and returning rough skin to resilient skin.

Step 1: Prime infusion repair program ampoule – reset 15ml
A soft, non-irritating old dead skin cell removal properties, helps to turn uneven skin texture into silky and soft. Added marshmallow root as part of its main ingredient which consists of Mucilage to soften and remove old dead skin cells.
Step 2: Prime infusion repair program ampoule – recover 15ml
Formulated with various types natural moisturizing agents that provides long-lasting moisturizing effects without stickiness. Added Grape Vine’s sap extracted through pruning which contain active properties such as Minerals, organic acid and flavonoid which can brings benefits such as moisturizing and anti-inflammation. The recover ampoule comes in nutrient enriched texture that softly embraces the skin and penetrates deeply into the skin and leave both moisturizing and firming effects after application.

Step 3: Prime infusion repair program ampoule – reactivate 15ml
A highly concentrate, nutrient enriched ampoule formula, act as a finishing touch to the intensive 6 weeks ampoule program to enhanced skin firmness and radiant. It is a highly concentrated, rich formula that can penetrates deeply into the skin to improve skin elasticity as well as care for wrinkles and leave skin with smooth and radiant finished. Added Lotus as one of its main ingredient to helps detoxify the skin with its strong anti-oxidant effects.

So each bottle contains 15ml of ampoule that is more than enough for the duration of 2 weeks (14 days). Its proper way to use it is to pump 2-3 drops and apply onto areas of concern but I used it slightly differently.

I pumped 2 full syringes into my palm, twice a day, daily for 2 weeks.
That may seem like a lot but because my skin is dry, thus the product soaks in easily because of its smooth texture. There isn't any scent to it, and the color is slightly yellow.
There isn't any residue once absorbed and I like how fast my skin is able to take it all in!

I am glad to report that

Now, to ensure that you see any skincare product's efficacy - you must it diligently every single day and not be lazy! I mean come on, if you didn't use it regularly - it's not really fair to say something didn't work for you, right?

So I used it over a period of 6 weeks for these 3 bottles and all the bigger bottles are all used up by now. I still have the little ones that together in the box - to use them in the future when I need another round of skin fixing.

Here in minimal makeup

To be honest, you can't really judge from this picture alone as I have makeup on. I still have minor breakouts but skin texture-wise, I find my skin to be really glowing - even without makeup.

The price is on the pricier side (RM525 for 3 bottles x 15ml) but YOU DO GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!
No nonsense chemicals and all that bad stuff.

I heard from some of my friends (currently in their 20s) that they are also using belif as part of their regular skincare regime. Thus after trying these ampoules out, I am really eager to Belif's cult favourite - AQUA BOMB MOISTURIZER!

YES, Althea Bare Essentials is WORTH THE HYPE!

I'm pretty late to the game when it comes to new product reviews, mainly because I prefer to use them for a few weeks to give a thorough test before putting out my honest opinion. I'm sure first impression posts are great however, I'm sure you guys prefer knowing whether are these worth the purchase, right? (*•̀ᴗ•́*)Ųˆ ̑̑

Judging by my blog title, I'm pretty sure you already know that I enjoy using the latest skincare range from Althea Korea - so let's jump straight into it!

Althea Bare Essentials

The first collection of Althea's very own skincare range features 3 essentials that we need in our daily routines:

Contour Cleanser, 150g/5.29 oz
Primer Water, 200ml/6.76fl.oz
Fixer Cream, 50g/1.76 oz

1. Contour Cleanser

This Contour Cleanser is made with contouring the face in mind. Koreans, or most Asians, are obsessed with a small baby face thus it explains how this cleanser came about.

The main ingredients include the Ice Plant, a plant famed for storing huge amounts of water in the desert. The native plant from South Africa is responsible for providing cooling sensation which would inadvertently hydrate and calm the skin. Another main ingredient is the Lemon Verbena which contains vitamin C and antioxidants to strengthen the skin. This plant originates from South America and is believed to have 9 times more fragrance and detox effects than regular lemons.

I noticed that this cleanser is not your ordinary cleanser because it contains tiny bubbles which exfoliate the skin. I was careful when using this cleanser at first because my skin type is dry sensitive after all. After a few days using this only on mornings, I didn't notice any skin sensitivity thus I continued using this even at night. Though this cleanser isn't really free of fragrance, it's gentle enough to not irritate my skin. I'm glad to report that this cleanser was gentle enough for me to use on a daily basis!

I was so impressed with this cleanser that I even brought it with me during my travel to Japan. But the bad news was I accidentally left it in one of my hotel rooms (we were changing hotels every day). I was pretty bummed out but then again I knew that this cleanser was really affordable (RM23 for 150g/5.29oz) so means I can re-order this again without leaving a dent in my wallet!

Price: RM23
Rating: 5/5

2. Primer Water

Primer Water is basically a toner, which is to be used right after cleansing. Its main ingredient is Snow Lotus (smoothens and brightens the skin while evening out its texture) which has a patented ‘dewdrop’ formulation to revitalize the skin and provides immediate, effective moisture.

Snow Lotus was the favourite herb of the most beautiful women of the Chinese Imperial Court for centuries for its beauty-enhancing benefits. It is said to provide brightening and anti-aging benefits.

Many of my blogger friends have concluded this product is THE STARof this Bare Essentials range & I couldn't agree more. The texture of this toner is pretty thick & slightly gel-like but it absorbs into the skin really quickly.

Primer Water reminds me a lot of those high-end toners which gives a luxurious after-feeling. It may come in a basic packaging, but it doesn't look or feel cheap at all. The minimalist typeface gives it a touch of class.

I'm already towards the end of using this toner and I really don't mind repurchasing this once it runs out.

Price: RM43
Rating: 5/5

3. Fixer Cream

Fixer Cream is a moisturizer suitable for all skin types and it easily penetrates into the deep layers of the skin to plump them for 24-hour hydration.

It is made of 3 main ingredients:
Trehalose - Powerful humectant that retains moisture on the skin
Wild Green Tea - Hydrating, skin soothing and packed with antioxidants
Baobab Tree Extract - A non-greasy moisturizing agent that helps promote collagen production

What I like about this moisturizer is that it leaves a non-sticky finish once absorbed. It doesn't take long for it to be absorbed, thus I can apply my sunscreen almost immediately right after.
My dry & sensitive skin seems to love it as it doesn't break me out.

I would say this is great moisturizer for those who want a basic moisturizer, but it is not sufficient for those who have very dry skin or mature skin. For that, you might need a heavier cream as this is quite a "light-weight" cream.

Price: RM50
Rating: 4/5
(minus one only because I prefer something heavier for my skin)

As you can see in this pic, I'm already towards the end of Fixer Cream and halfway through Primer Water.
My Contour Cleanser is in Japan D:

In conclusion, the Bare Essentials skincare range is something great for people in their 20's, as these are basic skincare products that maintain youthful skin. For more protection / repairing properties, you may need something richer so that your skin is well-maintained.

As for me, it gives me great skin and I'm on my way to finish them.
