ZA True White EX Perfect Protector

Saturday, 29 August 2015
Living in Malaysia is like having summer all-year-round and I am constantly exposed to the sun! Because I want to avoid premature ageing, thus using sunscreen on a daily basis has become part of my daily skin care routine.

Honestly I've only started to actively use sunscreen this year and boy, do I see a tremendous positive change in my skin! Aside from all the wonder serums that do their magic, I also believe sunscreen plays a part in maintaining my youth. (Ok I sound old here but since I'm entering my late 20's *boohoo*, I'm taking the extra precautionary step of maintaining my skin!)

Not so long ago, ZA launched a new line of whitening skincare, which includes a

Sunscreen cream 30g / SPF50+・PA++++

What it is
The multi 4-in-1 PERFECT PROTECTOR with base makeup and brightening effects that offers powerful protection against UV rays and pollution.

4-in-1 Effects:
99% UV Cutoff Anti-Pollutants | Oil Control | Brightening!

1. UV Cutting / UV Block
2. Water-resistant
3. Non-sticky
4. Moisturizing
5. Make up base
6. Whitening
7. Pollution-defence
8. Oil Control
9. SPF
10. Protects

How it works
The science behind the product:

Not only does it act as a sunscreen, it also doubles up as a Whitening Agent! It is also said to give a smooth finishing texture thus tripling up as a Make Up Base!

As the last step of my regular morning skincare, I take an appropriate amount on my fingertips and I smooth over the entire face with the fingertips from the center outwards. It also can be used for the enitre body (but since this is specially made for the face, it is more cost-efficient to use primarily on the face; it would be too costly to use for body).

Can you see the sunscreen during mid-application?

My Verdict

As a beauty junkie, I have devoted myself to try almost all products at least once in my lifetime, to have a fair share of judgement irregardless of its affordability.

I myself am not a fan of whitening products, to be honest, as whitening products or any skin care with Vitamin C ingredient will usually cause an outburst on my precious skin. True enough, this sunscreen did give me little bumps after my first application. (Goes to say that its whitening ingredients are really potent!) It could be a horrible thing to happen if you have sensitive skin, like me. However, if you are one who is immune to whitening products, this would definitely fulfil your whitening/brightening desires!!!

As for me, since my face is allergic to it, I decided to use it on my body. (If you are looking for a body sunscreen, you can try ZA True White Power Block UV, a sister product which has a more liquid texture) The texture of the cream is medium consistency; you do have rub it until the white cast fades off. It has SPF 50 after all! So if you are looking for a sunscreen with high SPF coverage (good for outdoors!), this is IT. But if you prefer something lightweight, this isn't going to cut it for you.

The thing I like most about this product is its finishing. The product does not feel sticky AT ALL, and it gives a nice powder finish. One thing to note is that it does leave a white cast if you put it on too much, so make sure not to squeeze the tube too hard, else it may overflow unwantedly.

3 Tips to Keep Your Make Up in Place

Monday, 10 August 2015
Ever since I started working full time 3 months ago, I realized that I don't have the luxury of having ALL my beauty products next to me. Usually, I only will be out for a few hours to run errands or attend events before committing to a full time job, BUT now I am out constantly for 10-12 hours daily and I find my makeup melting by the end of the day!

Because of that, I realized I needed to spice up my routine, to ensure my makeup can sustain for at least 10 hours. Here are a few make up tricks for women that I learnt from a make up artist and I have since incorporated them into my pre-makeup routine, so that my make up stays in place until the end of the day.

1. Cleanse - Tone - Moisturize

Every time before you apply your make up on, make sure to wash your face properly with cleanser. This is to allow you have a clean slate and feel fresh from dirt or face oil. (Also make sure your cleanser is suitable for your skin type! Dry for dry, oily for oily, etc.) After you had washed your face, apply your usual toner then moisturizer for it to absorb into your skin before putting on makeup. A damp moisturized skin makes it easier for your make up to stay on.
Currently using: Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream for Chronic Dry, Sensitive Skin and Kiehl's Calendula Herbal Extract Alcohol-Free Toner

2. Prep skin with primer

Primers are made to hold your make on for a long period of time. It may be expensive but there is nothing in splurging for a primer base to have an amazing make up look everywhere you go. Besides, you do not need to apply much as with only a few dabs you are good to go. Primer really helps to make your eyeshadow colour stay on with ease.
Currently using: Benefit POREfessional (HG!), NYX HD Eyeshadow Primer (can rival Urban Decay Primer Potion, no joke!)

3. Long lasting products
Have you realized that some make up items in the market promote long lasting effect?
Yes, they might cost a little more than the usual make up products but it is definitely worth it! The common products formulated to last for long hours are lipsticks, foundations, waterproof mascara and eyeliner. Use these types of products to avoid having to touch up every single hour and appear spectacular. I also strongly believe in keeping my foundation coverage as minimal as possible to prevent smudging!
Currently using: Dior Nude Air Serum Foundation, Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation, Benefit Roller Lash Mascara

I hope you girls gain some insights on having long lasting make up! If you have any more, feel free to share with me in the comment section! :)

Grace Myu X TiC: Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum EX

Thursday, 6 August 2015
You've read about me talking about Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion recently, here's another one of their products hat I've personally tried... and fell deeply in love with!

Disclaimer: I was not paid to say any good words on this brand, product was presented to me as a token, but I decided to make a blog post on it simple because.... it's really THIS DANGEROUSLY GOOD!

In a nutshell, Sulwhasoo has now released a new, upgraded version – the First Care Activating Serum EX, which boasts an even more potent blend of active ingredients. This is thanks to new technology that helps to unlock the efficacies of each ingredient in the JAUM Balancing Complexᵀᴹ – white lily, Rehmannia, Peony, Solomon’s Seal and Sacred Lotus.

In my own words,
‘I’ve been using the First Care Activating Serum EX for about a month now, and I have seen great results. Prior to using this I felt my skin was really dry, and after using this for about a month I could actually see a radiant glow on my skin. All my friends and blogger friends and editors and PR agencies – when they saw me after a month they were like, “Grace! Why is your skin glowing?”

The 'secret' is out!

I have been using this serum religiously, day and night, because I ran out of all my other serums. I previously used Lancôme Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate and it was good for me. However, that serum didn't show a huge difference on my face compared to this Sulwhasoo one (no one complimented about my skin so that's how I gauged its efficacy lol).

I'm serious when I say that everyone around me were gushing about my new-found-radiant-skin!

So here's how I use it
The First Care Activating Serum EX is the first step of your skincare, right after cleansing. It’s a golden brown, silky liquid that absorbs into the skin incredibly easily, leaving it feeling smooth and hydrated without being greasy or sticky to the touch. After applying, you can layer on the rest of your skincare and makeup, while the serum does its work boosting their benefits and keeping your skin happy and hydrated.

If your skin is feeling extra dry and dehydrated, apply one round of the serum as usual, and then rub your palms together to generate some warmth and press them against your cheeks, forehead and chin to encourage absorption. Follow up with one more pump of the serum all over your face.

You can also use the serum to help out your makeup – mix one pump of the serum with two pumps of your liquid foundation to get a light, hydrating finish for hot days. If your base is looking a little cakey as the day wears on, dab some serum over any dry patches to give a radiant finish.

You could find my feature on Tongue in Chic along with other beauty bloggers too!

You may redeem your complimentary sample of the First Care Activating Serum EX at, until August 31 2015.

Let me know if this serum works for you too?

Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum EX retails at RM280 for 60ml.
