Weekday Surprise! Maybelline Color Sensational Rebel Bouquet Lipsticks

Wednesday, 27 May 2015
Three weeks into office and I have flowers being sent in for me!
Thank you Maybelline Malaysia for being so thoughtful!

Let's see what they included with the flowers.

It's the new line of lipsticks called
And how apt of them, for sending flowers to beauty enthusiasts! I saw on Instagram a couple of famous influencers and beauty bloggers receiving lovely bouquets from Happy Bunch (the flower dispatch) too! You can search on Instagram with the hashtag #WatchMeRebel ;)
I'm so happy my bouquet looks one of the bigger ones hehehe *sneaky*

Not sure whether they're in stores at the moment (I visited Watsons Pavilion and haven't seen them on the shelves yet!) but I'm very sure they'll be out soon enough!

Love starts with a Click

Tuesday, 19 May 2015
WHOA, the last blog post got quite a lot of clicks coming from my Facebook because the bridesmaid-like dress was quite deceiving - MOST OF MY FRIENDS thought I was going to announce an engagement or wedding! HAHAHAAHAH

Anyway, since we are on the topic of LOVE, I know most young people nowadays have given online dating a try. It doesn't seem like a taboo anymore compared to the last 10 years and there are so many apps that are downloadable onto smartphones especially for singles-on-the-go.

I personally have never used a dating app, but I heard that the current market for dating apps seem to mainly cater to guys, and females don't get such a great experience. It seems that there are too many guys on the platform but there isn't enough supply of females to cater to them.

You know how Tinder uses your Facebook Profile for verification and account creation but the problem is, EVEN people who are listed "In a Relationship" can utilize (or rather take advantage) of the app without going through any scrutiny. I mean, it's so unsupervised, that even if you sign up with weird pictures or pictures of random objext, they'll still allow you on the app without vetting the profiles.

So why are these individuals still allowed on a dating app?
Shouldn't there be some kind of restrictions for people who are not available in the market?

Lucky for us in Malaysia, someone finally came up with an app which exploits this feature lack to their advantage.

This is the first app that has security features that caters to women who want a safe experience. It is a female-centric app that allows us to be more connected with others in terms of quality rather than quantity.

Some key features are: -
1. Manual Profile Approval: Love assistant vets through all incoming profiles and rejects 20-30% of people who sign up. These are the people who have inappropriate pictures, or people who are already attached (as can be seen through their Facebook profiles)
2. One Match Per Day: Guys aren't able to swipe endlessly to check out female users, so this won't appeal to guys who just want to play "the numbers game". Thus, females don't get bombarded with tons of messages by creepy guys!

So if you are in the dating scene, why not give this app a try?

Stop swiping. Start meeting up.

New Life Chapter Update! ft. Chi Chi London Aggie Dress

Monday, 11 May 2015

Dress // Chi Chi London Aggie Dress £59.99

The dress above was actually one of the few dresses I was considering to wear for my #GraceXBenefitMY party last week but in the end the waist area was a bit too loose for me (although I was very much in love with the tulle skirt!). Thank God it doesn't look too loose for me here in the picture and I got so many compliments while wearing this dress, saying that I look like a bridesmaid! (don't you think so too?)

CHI CHI LONDON is a young, fast fashion brand bringing catwalk inspired fashion direct to the high street. They carry unique, vibrant and expressive styles which are, if you must know - limited edition pieces, designed and made in-house. So practically each dress is like a piece tailored exclusively for you!

If you wish to break away from the norm, I strongly feel buying online from a western country could give you that edge that you need. It will not be easy sporting the same outfit with someone else and you'll stay rest assured that you'll be the only one stealing the spot light at a party! The quality is top-notch and stitching is thoroughly sewn.

Birthday week has gone by and so many things have happened within the past week. On the day I celebrated my birthday at Benefit (April 29), I was casually talking to a friend about job opportunities at the place where she works in - a digital ad agency. She said they were hiring(!!!) and when she told her colleague about me (being a blogger and all), they asked me to send in my resume for consideration. Not thinking much of it, I forwarded my resume as I wanted some additional source of income (to fund for my multiple overseas trips this year) and I heard that the place offers flexible work-from-home culture, which allows me to continue to pursue my blogging career amongst other things.

A week later, I was asked to come in for an interview and I scheduled it on my actual birthday - May 7! The interview was really brief (we had a chat for about 30 minutes then the interviewer needed to rush off to the next meeting) and the interviewer also added in that they are considering a few candidates for the post. Not wanting to disappoint myself, I didn't put much hope into it (although the job was really what I wanted because it would suit me well).

The very next day, I got a congratulatory email stating I could start next week (which is tomorrow!) and I just can't wait to start agency life again! Digital space has always been my stronghold and I have been in the blogosphere since circa 2007 although I only started taking blogging seriously towards end of 2013.

I'm thankful to God especially, for opening doors at the right time and just about when I'm 100% ready to embark another life chapter. Frankly, I wasn't really looking for a full-time job, and was only toying with the idea of it but I believe God has greater plans for me (because this agency deals a lot of big international beauty brands!) so it's a WIN-WIN.

Hopefully with like-minded colleagues, I'll be motivated to update this space more often and share more stories and personal reviews for your reading pleasure.

Until then!

#GraceXBenefitMY Birthday Bash

Wednesday, 6 May 2015

It's my birthday tomorrow and I'm turning a year older, but that hasn't stopped me from being ALL GIRLY GIRL, having a pink themed birthday bash! BENEFIT COSMETICS have been so kind to help organize and coordinate my whole birthday bash -- from securing the venue, setting up a makeup workshop, my birthday face makeup prep, packaging goodie bags for guests, creating my birthday invites..... to even providing refreshments and bringing in BABY PINK helium balloons.......

Basically they took the liberty of planning the whole thing -- all I had to do was show up with my naked face and call all my friends over for a treat! It was truly a Dream Come True!!!
(How did I get so lucky anyways?!)

These mini cupcakes even had personalization on the toppings!

I arrived about 2 hours earlier to Benefit, 1 Utama for complimentary birthday makeup makeover by their in house makeup artist. I kinda regretted not going to the hair salon earlier to get my hair braided up, else it would have been better in pictures! Makeup artist gave me a natural light makeup (I personally prefer a heavier do since I didn't had much sleep the night before, being excited for this day to come!) with dark eyebrows, thus leaving me looking a little like Cara Delevingne. I put on my flower wreath and I'm ready to go!

My guests started to arrive at 3.00pm sharp (how I appreciate all of you who took the time to be punctual!) and my official photographer Adrian Lau started snapping photos away!

Any event isn't complete with a photobooth!

So for my birthday, I had the privilege to have WOWgram to provide photobooth services! WOWgram is a little different from your usual photobooth concept where you get to stand in front of a camera and take 3 continuous shots. WOWgram is a concept where it prints your Instagram uploads into polaroid-like pics for keepsake! I shall elaborate about it in my upcoming post for a better understanding of the process! :)

Btw, WOWgram is brought to you by Wowsome (formerly known as Wow Photobooth) and you can go stalk them first at their Facebook Page if you just can't wait for my post! hehs.

With that said, my friends immediately got all trigger happy with countless of selfies, wefies and #OOTD pics started appearing on #GraceXBenefitMY @WOWbooth,
just to get their pics printed into polaroids!!!

My two besties with Felicia (new beauty blogger friend!)

I thought it was the perfect incentive of people to upload photos on Instagram on the spot as WOWgram only detects photos with the hashtags!

The makeup workshop was head by Benefit's National Brow Artist, Rileen Chua. She introduced to us Benefit's latest revolutionary Roller Lash mascara, which allows users to curl lashes without the help of an eye lash curler. Jazel played the Demo Girl (she's currently running for FHM Malaysia Girl Next Door 2015 competition so please help vote for her!!) and the rest of us got to see the mascara wand upclose and try it ourselves.

Rileen explained that Roller Lash is used from the base of the lashes to the ends, for a lengthening effect. To finish the look, Rileen used Benefit's They're Real mascara to volumnize the lashes from the middle to the ends. She demo-ed on Jazel's right lashes to show a Before-After comparison.

Left with They're Real mascara, Right without.

Sidenote: In my entire life long experience with mascaras, I always have a habit of using BOTH lengthening and volumizing mascara, with the help of mascara base. I don't know about you, but I always try not to use falsies for most days because I absolutely hate it when my falsies fall out halfway throughout the day! *grumpycat*

Abrupt cut to the

Don't mind our facial expressions. I just wanted to make the pictures look alive as possible because we were standing too formally and I'd hate how it would turn out after that!

If you notice the candle in this picture, it's slanting a little bit like the Leaning Tower of Pisa because I had to blow out the fire so hard, it just blew over and stood sideways after that XD

After the cutting cake sess was over, all the girls gathered around to continue uploading their pics on Insta to get them WOWgram snaps! They did exactly as all bloggers would do: cropping and editing pictures, writing creative captions, hashtaging and such! We sat around for a good 30 minutes before we left!

Team Benefit Cosmetics Malaysia
for making this happen!

You girls (and guy) really did make my little girl dreams come true and I'm really thankful, tearing up because I'm truly touched by all the effort you put in especially for me :')

Carmen Sheon

Jazel Lim

I also hope you girls enjoyed the pictures with me! There's the full album on my Facebook, so do check them out here if you want to feast your eyes on all things pink and some eye candies! ;)

Even almost all my pressies are in pink!
Who knew?!??

And as always, a job well done of my perfect nails by beeQnails!

It's my actual birthday tomorrow so I'm gonna pamper myself for the rest of the day today! Look out for my updates on Facebook and Instagram throughout the day tomorrow!

See you there!
